Dating after mental illness

On particularly bad days, getting out of bed, eating a meal, and taking a shower might constitute success. Don't allow your partner to overburden you. The conversation changes, and that is because the very mention of bipolar brings up a whole host of stigmas.

This is an invitation to start a conversation about dating someone with a mental illness. We argued about it a lot that day and from then on. You have been on a few dates, and the chemistry is there. They are not able to see you or your personality. Only take care of those around you after you are in a safe place.

You do need to know the person first but hiding your illness can make things worse in the long run. Do this with the knowledge and consent of your partner.
